Misawa City aims to take advantage of its uniquely international atmosphere by fostering a deep understanding of globalization among local residents and preparing them to take on the challenges of international society. The Misawa International Center was built in 2004 in order to support this goal, by providing a place for Misawa locals and foreign residents to gather freely, learn from each other, and enjoy cultural exchange.

Facility Information

The Misawa International Center has a wide range of facilities available for reservation, including an event hall, seminar rooms, lodging facilities, a kitchen, pottery room, and Japanese-style meeting and tea ceremony rooms.

Additionally, the Cafeteria Lounge and the International Exchange Lounge, which feature study space and a multilingual library, are available to the public without reservation or charge.

Kitchen and Lounge

  

The Cafeteria Lounge is open to the public without reservation whenever the Center is open. This is the only location in the Misawa International Center where consumption of food and drink is permitted. 

The kitchen is available for reservation. Cookware and dishware available for no extra charge, but consumables (including cleaning supplies such as dish soap, sponges, etc) are not provided. Please bring the materials you will need.

Bathrooms and Shower rooms 

  
   

Bathing facilities are available for guests staying in the lodging facilities.

The shared bathroom located on the first floor is available to guests staying in the 8-bed rooms.
The shower rooms located on the second floor are available to all guests.

Toiletries (shampoo, body wash, etc) and towels are not provided. Please bring your own.

Japanese style Meeting Room

The Japanese style Meeting Room features traditional tatami mat flooring (52 mats 120 square meters) and floor cushion seating for up to 60 people. It is located on the second floor of the lodging hall.

It is customary to wear socks on tatami mat flooring. Please remove your shoes before entering the room.

Group Activity Room

The Group Activity Room is located on the first floor of the lodging hall. It is available for use only by youth organizations (sports teams, scouting groups, youth conferences, etc) or guests staying in the lodging facilities.
※ A partition (seen on the right side of the photograph above) can be closed to split the Group Activity Room into two smaller rooms.

Event Hall

The Event Hall is a small auditorium with a stage that holds an audience of up to 263 people, including 10 wheeelchair seats.

In order to confirm necessary additional equipment and stage settings, a meeting with management staff is required to reserve the Event Hall. Use of facility equipment such as microphones, lights, podiums, etc will incur additional fees.

Seminar Rooms

Seminar Room 1  

Seminar Room 1 is the largest room (114 sq m), with 63 seats arranged in a standard classroom-style layout, and three seats per long table. It features a fixed whiteboard and sound system.

Seminar Room 2

Seminar Room 2 is approximately half the size of Seminar Room 1 (64 sq m), with 27 seats arranged in the same classroom-style layout, and a movable whiteboard.

※ A partition between Seminar Rooms 1 and 2 can be opened to expand the space into one large room, with a total of 90 seats.

 

Seminar Room 3

Seminar Room 3 is slightly larger than Room 2 (74 sq m). It has 24 seats arranged in a classroom-style layout with two seats per table, and a fixed whiteboard.

Tea Ceremony Rooms

        
       

The tea ceremony rooms are located in the Japanese-style hall on the first floor. All three rooms have traditional tatami mat flooring, and are designed to host traditional Japanese tea ceremonies (known an "Sado" in Japanese). The tea room can also be accessed through a small door from the Japanese-style garden.

Tea bowls, scoops, whisks, an electric kettle, and other tools are available for use at no extra charge. Please wash them after use and return them to their original locations.

Plese bring your own consumable items, such as matcha and sweets.

Shoes are prohibited in the Japanese-style hall. It is customary to wear socks on tatami mat flooring.

Tea room: 4.5 tatami mats (10.8 square meters)
Preparation room: 3 tatami mats (7.5 square meters)
Entry room: 7.5 tatami mats (16.75 square meters)

Pottery Room

The pottery room is located in the Japanese-style hall.

It has 16 stools around four large tables. Electric and hand-powered potter's wheels, an electric kiln, clay kneading machines, and other tools are available for use at no extra charge. Please confirm the available tools before use, and bring any additional tools you may need.

Please bring your own consumable materials, such as clay and pottery glaze.

Shoes are prohibited in the Japanese-style hall. Please change into the provided slippers before entering.

Drinks in covered containers (water bottles, etc) are allowed in the pottery room. All other food and drinks must be consumed in the Cafeteria Lounge.

Playroom

The Playroom is an open space on the first floor that can be used for dance and exercise classes or music practice. It features an upright piano and movable whiteboard, and has space for up to 30 seats.

Shoes are prohibited in the playroom. Please change into the provided slippers.

Eating and drinking, except for drinks in covered bottles, are prohibited. All other food and drinks must be consumed in the Cafeteria Lounge.
